Working with Monica at We Are ALX has been a professional highlight. She’s one of those rare leaders who can think strategically while also getting things done with precision and calm. As Head of Initiatives, she helped shape some of our most impactful programs and built systems that set us up for growth. Now, as Chief of Staff, she keeps us aligned, focused, and moving forward, always with equity and purpose at the center. Monica leads with clarity and integrity, and I feel lucky to call her both a colleague and a partner in this work.

Monica has mentored me as an entrepreneur informally over the last few years, particularly as I think about revenue generation, marketing, branding, storytelling, and pitching. Monica’s biggest strength: she is rooted in relationship. As a woman of color, leader, deeply skilled practitioner, and hustler, Monica forms authentic partnerships in her work. I’ve seen this in her work as a board member, as a coach of other leaders, in her own consulting work, and in her political organizing work. Monica takes deep, genuine care in working with, not to or for communities. She elevates different perspectives, collaborates, and builds community through her work. Monica is innovative and bold in her ability to set and execute a vision. She does this for herself in her own consulting practice – and for the clients and partners she works alongside. Monica builds coalition, capital, and a case for sustainable support in the projects she takes on. She is nimble, creative, and knows how to make it work in a variety of settings with different variables thrown at her – and she always brings new ideas and energy to her work. In that effort, she consistently blows me away with her ability to balance optimism, hope, audacious forward-thinking, and brass tax pragmatism all in one.

Monica is an amazing and creative professional. She is so very easy to work with and extremely responsive to her clients. She is passionate about her work and is incredible at understanding the needs of the client. She listens and creates exactly what her clients need. Monica has created logos, save the dates, invites, program books, infographics, program booklets and conference materials for our nonprofit. The quality of her work is exceptional. Monica is great with deadlines, communicates timelines clearly and always has great work done exactly when she says she will. Partnering with Monica on a project is such a wonderful experience!
